Ryan Kennard, Au.D., ABA Certified, CCC-A
Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Ryan Kennard has a passion for investing in others. He has a deep desire to help people manage communication difficulties through counseling, education, and amplification.  With previous experience in acoustics, sound engineering, and information technology, he received his Bachelors of Science in Human Development from Hope International University in Fullerton, California and his Doctorate in Audiology from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona.

He completed his externship at the Southern Arizona VA HCS (SAVAHCS) in Tucson, AZ, where he treated hearing and balance disorders, provided Audiology services in the Blind Rehabilitation Center and served on the poly-trauma and traumatic brain injury team. After completing his AuD, he stayed on at the SAVAHCS until relocating to San Luis Obispo, California.

Since returning to California’s Central Coast, he has worked in ENT practices and a private practice hearing care center prior to opening Pacific Coast Audiology. He also teaches Aural Rehabilitation and Tinnitus courses, has served as a Board member for the California Academy of Audiology, and spoken nationally on topics of Music Audiology, technology, and access to care.

What initially drew Dr. Kennard to Audiology was the opportunity to serve others in a meaningful way. His experiences as a former acoustics, audio engineering, and information technology professional uniquely suit him to manage both the technical side of audiology and apply clinical expertise to enhance the well-being of his patients.

Dr. Kennard’s favorite pastime is spending time with his two daughters. He also enjoys riding his mountain bike, SCUBA diving, snow skiing, camping, and working on his classic vehicles, a 1974 Scout II and a 1964 Apache tent trailer. Dr. Kennard is also a veteran of the US Air Force.

Jeanie Caldwell
Office Manager

Originally from the Central Valley, Jeanie moved to the Central Coast in 2007. Her journey into audiology began in 2018 when she started as a receptionist for an Otolaryngologist. She quickly realized her calling was in direct patient care.

In 2019 she became Dr. Kennard’s assistant in the clinic, this experience fueled her desire to make a difference in the community and in a patient’s day to day life. Jeanie finds great fulfillment in connecting with patients during their visits and effectively resolving their hearing aid issues. In 2022, she proudly joined Dr. Kennard in opening Pacific Coast Audiology.

With an Associate Degree in Business Management and her Audiology Assistant certification, Jeanie is dedicated to expanding her expertise. She is always willing to learn to further her career and skills.

She enjoys the kayaking opportunities and community events that San Luis Obispo county offers. In her spare time, Jeanie enjoys gardening, attending live music events, thrifting, and traveling.

Azra Hill
Audiology Extern

Azra is a passionate 4th year audiology student dedicated to advancing her clinical skills and contributing to the field of hearing healthcare. Her journey into audiology began during her undergraduate studies in communicative disorders, where she discovered a fascination with the intricacies of the ear.

This led her to pursue 2 years of hands-on experience as an audiology assistant in a private practice in California, followed by a role as a hearing aid technician in a busy ENT clinic as a first-year graduate student. She is expected to graduate from A.T. Still University in June of 2026.

In addition to her clinical experience, Azra served as the elected president of the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) chapter at A.T. Still University. Her leadership has helped foster a supportive community for fellow students and has also deepened her connection to the profession.

Azra recently moved from San Jose to Paso Robles and is excited to explore all that the Central Coast has to offer. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, listening to podcasts, reading books, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Sunny

Sunny has always been interested in people. At a young age, he liked people so much, he would often develop a keen interest in consuming the favorite things of those around him.

Sunny joined the team, part time, with a mission to infuse each day with joy and a touch of playful chaos. He excels in his role as greeter, patient supporter, entertainer and obstacle (we’re working on this one).

Sunny attended school in San Luis Obispo County, where he improved his listening skills and reduced his desire to destroy things.

Outside of his office duties, he enjoys playing with his family (human sisters and parents). He loves outings, people, hikes, walks, watersports, and being an apex predator (“intimidating” cats and stuffed toys).

Sunny is the most memorable part of our clinical staff. On work days, he typically runs to the office with exuberance, excited to see his coworkers and any patients he has the opportunity to meet. If you have the opportunity to meet him in the office, you will experience his empathy and quickly realize that he fits in well with the rest of our friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable staff. He is looking forward to meeting you soon.

Why Audiology?

Ryan Kennard became an audiologist after several years in the military and acoustic design industry. His mother-in-law is an audiologist and encouraged him to use his passion for hearing and acoustics to help people. Now he uses that same passion to help put his patients’ best interests first.

Ryan loves spending time with his two daughters and wife, as well as photography, classic cars, camping, skiing, and hiking. His favorite hobby is mountain biking on the trails of San Luis Obispo, where everyone uses bells on their bike to help people pass each other safely.

He tells the community, “If you can’t hear my bell on the trail, come in for a hearing test”.
